Dr. Clarke is a reader in clinical neurology at the University of Birmingham in Birmingham, England. Before that, he was a consultant neurologist at the Hull Royal Infirmary in Hull, England. (A neurologist is a doctor who specializes in conditions that affect the nervous system.)

He has done many years of research into Parkinson's disease, including work on its causes and how to diagnose and treat it. He is currently involved in several large studies of medical and surgical treatments for patients with Parkinson's disease.
